Vintage Finds, Retro Antiques, (Urban Dictionary calls it Vintiques)
Call it what you may… all I know is that I adore groovy junk from days gone by. If my Mama thinks it belongs in a garage sale, I typically think it’s COOL! Yesterday I hit the mother lode in Malakoff, Texas. It was almost like the hippies were having a yard sale just for me!
You should have seen the look on my husband’s face when I unloaded the car!
Look! It’s an old ballot box from the city where I was born.
A darling collection of carnival chalkware.
These were given out as carnival prizes during the early 1900′s.
Who remembers licking S&H Green Stamps and sticking them into books?
A hook rug from my husband’s alma mater, Baylor University. Sick ‘em Bears!
And who doesn’t love a plastic peacock wall hanging?
(We need to glue his head back on and spray paint him green.)
This puppy and kitty are made completely out of beads.
…and my very favorite find? This fabulous hair chair!
So what’s your opinion? Trash or treasure? Awesome or awful? I’d LOVE to know what you think.

TREASURE!!! ABSOLUTELY!!!! My daughter is moving into her first apartment this fall, in her second year of college in Denton, and she’s decorating her room in all things peacock. We just LOVE your plastic peacock
Hope you’ll post a photo of what it looks like after you paint it.

Allie-
I LOVE being on the look out for stuff that I know other people will enjoy. I will FOR SURE have your daughter in the back of my mind as I junk shop. Peacocks, huh? Can’t wait to be on the look out…
Thanks for your feedback. Truly truly truly: I appreciate your comment.
Love, Christy
I am diggin’ on the “hair chair” for sure! That antique shop is totally awesome. Last time I visited, I found a cool urban-outfitters like purse for $10! My husband was not totally sold on it, but when he saw the price he was like go for it! And ever since then, people stop me on the streets and compliment my new accessory.
Oh it’s so cute! And it really works. I got it at Antiques on Royall (next to the donut shop near the red light.) You know where that is, don’t you!?
Becky- thank you thank you thank you for commenting. You should know that I really appreciate it so much.
Love,
Christy
PS- yall going to the lake this weekend?
I love it, sad I couldn’t go. Next time I’ll be sure to make it happen.
Great finds! If I may ask…do you know how much the peacock wall hanging is worth? I found one at Salvation Army and have been having a hard time researching value. I love your blog!
Hi Katelyn!
I think I paid about $20 for it, BUT it was broken. I had to glue gun the body to the tail. We spray painted it a light, bright green and it is hanging on the wall of my daughters lakehouse room.
Not sure how much it’s REALLY worth, but I think that $20 was a bargain at twice the price!
Love,
Christy
