The other day my college roommate sent me a text with a concoction for a foot soak. She promises that after soaking for 15 minutes you will be walking around with smooth heels. I have not used this but I am planning on trying it this weekend!

A few weeks ago we experienced the ultimate championship in Dallas, for the first time in Maverick’s history, they WON the NBA Championship! The city had something to celebrate, and celebrate we did!
I’ve decided to share with you all of my personal observations during this crazy time:
Observation ONE:
Being a champion is not easy. The sacrifice, competitive attitude and practice these players give to be the best is true dedication. It is amazing to me the hours of dedication along with the drive to win that these professional athletes must have to be a champion. During the championship series one of my favorite things was watching the back story on the players, learning where they were born, how they got to where they are, etc. One story that was a household favorite this year for my family was Dirk Nowitski – he really is a class act. I later learned how much my six year old daughter loved him (keep reading and you will too)!
Observation TWO
What it is like to be a committed Maverick FAN - After following the Mavericks this year (and growing up watching and attending games), I think that I can easily speak on this! Let me sum it up with a few bullet points:
•Late nights – Games scheduled at 8:00pm lasting until after 11:00pm are killers. Everyone is tired the next morning and a grouch!
•Unstable Emotions – Your husband’s mood is DRAMATICALLY affected the next day depending on the games outcome (I was always pulling for the win because I love the Mavs, and I wanted him to be in a good mood).
•Blood Pressure – The last five minutes of the game is very stressful on one’s health.
•Victory is Sweet – There is a real sense of pride when it is your home team that wins it all.
Observation THREE
My husband has been a Maverick fan all of his life, attending tons of games (he even went to the Mavericks private basketball camps – that’s a whole other story). So of course he had to attend the Mavericks Championship Parade. The night before the parade he loaded up our kids along with his dad and they went downtown to stay at a hotel (they needed to get their prime parade spot early). As they were leaving my daughter stopped and said, “I need markers and a poster board for my sign!” Afraid of what the sign would look like if I sent it with my husband, I quickly helped her make the sign. She knew exactly what she wanted her sign to say:
Little did I know how my baby girl felt about Dirk!
They had a great time at the parade, despite the Texas heat! Dirk even saw her sign and pointed at her while he was riding by on the float. We later found out through a friend that Dirk posted a picture of her holding the sign at the parade on his Facebook Fan page.
It was a great day…a great victory… and a great feeling being the Champions!

Last week, Scribbles n Such participated in the Dallas Total Home & Gift Show at the World Trade Center where several hundred vendors from across the country converged to showcase their wares to retailers and buyers. Prior to the show, Scribbles n Such wisely took advantage of the WTCenter’s early unload program. After unloading, I realized that I’d forgotten something, so I ran up to the storage room to add it to our pallet.
When the freight elevator doors opened, this is what I saw:
I excitedly looked at the warehouse foreman and asked:
“Excuse me Sir, do these darling bookshelves put a pep in your step, a song in your heart, and a smile on your face?”
His answer:
“Mam, you can’t be up here. This area is restricted.”
…I guess you can’t win ‘em all.
